Jacksonville home invasion stopped when resident pulls gun
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said they are searching for an armed suspect that broke into a westside home on Monday afternoon.
The homeowner told police that two men forced their way into his home on Thumper Street with guns.
"I shot him once, then I got my other gun and said I got a big gun now,' the homeowner said.
The armed suspects fled the home from the second floor. One suspect was found by a Good Samaritan, Matthew Austin, who didn't know he was helping a home invasion suspect.
"I was trying to tell him to stay still because of the shrapnel in him but he didn't listen very well," Austin said.
The suspect was transported to the hospital. JSO is still searching for the other suspect.
