ALLEGHENY COUNTY COURT OF COMMON PLEAS
Order of the Court --Preston Covey & Allegheny County Sportsmen's League v. City of Pittsburgh On May 7, 1996 the Court of Common Pleas issues the order of the court shutting down the attempt by City of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University with funds from the U.S. Justice Department to establish a computerized gun registration scheme alleged to be in violation of both state and federal law.
Preston Covey & Allegheny County Sportsmen's League v. City of Pittsburgh-- Opinion Shortly after issuing the "Order of the Court" in the above named law suit the City of Pittsburgh appealed to Commonwealth Court. Under Pennsylvania law, when a case in Common Pleas is appealed to the next level, the judge in the case is required to write an opinion supporting his ruling. This is the opinion of Judge Joseph M.
